Welcome to another edition of Top-5 Wedding Blog Posts of the Week. This week we have a great line-up!
1. First I’m going to start off with a website rather than a blog. But, this website is from one of our blogger friends…Lynn over at The Handcrafted Wedding Blog just launched her new website where she features some of the best “independent designers and specialty artisans” all to help you create your wedding vision! So checkout this great website: The Handcrafted Wedding
2. Okay ladies, if you are getting stressed out trying to have the perfect wedding you better checkout this article. I found this via Weddingbee’s Weekly Roundup.
3. (UPDATE: Evidently I was mistaken, the “In Style Weddings” blog is not associated with “In Style Weddings Magazine” sorry for the confusion, because it definitely confused me!) Did you know In Style Weddings has a blog? Well I found it and they had a great post this about the Top Wedding Trends for 2008. Check it out!
4. Every wonder how much you need to tip your reverend or JOP for performing your service? Well, wonder no more! All you have to do is check out this post on Event Ethos!
5. Well the wedding is over you worn that beautiful dress once, now what do you with it? Well you’re going to preserve it of course. Okay, so how do you do that? Well Junebug Weddings is going to tell you! Checkout this post about Wedding Dress Preservation!
Well that wraps up an exciting week! I have several good posts in the work for next week. Since it is a 3-day weekend, I’ll see you on Tuesday!

There’s a total of $54,000 of prizes at stake. I’ve entered his contests in the past and they are not only fun but you might learn something about blogging too! So checkout his post about his Birthday Bash Competition!

It is time once again for the Top-5 Wedding Blog Posts of the Week! I explored the blogosphere to find things of interest so you don’t have to. Now get a cup of coffee, sit-back, relax and enjoy…Since I started off the week with some lighting inspiration, my first two picks this week are some lighting inspiration from a couple of my favorite blogs…
1. Bridal Bar Blog had a great post about “What to do in the rain?” Checkout the great photos of the wedding venues in this post!
2. SocialDesign has a whole category on lighting. They typically have a lighting post every week. Checkout this link to the SocialDesign Lighting Posts!
3. This next one isn’t really a blog. I’m actually not sure what it is. I just stumbled upon it. But it did look interesting. Checkout these pictures of a couple’s wedding who really went all out to have a medieval themed wedding!
4. This one I got from Weddingbee’s Weekly Round-up. Remember the real work comes after you get married! It’s never too early to start preparing to have a good marriage. Read “8 Things No One Tells You About Marriage.”
5. Are you a Bridezilla? Not sure? Well here is a scientific test (not really) that will give indisputable proof of your status. At least you might find it entertaining. Checkout The Bridezilla Test!
Let me know if you found some other great posts you’d like to share!
See you next week!

Well Matrimony Inc was kind enough to let us know about a great website that can help you out! Checkout the post “Sample Wedding Songs on WeddingWire.com”
You may be wondering why I had a picture of a football helmet on this post Well that’s one football helmet I’d like to stick my head in! it’s actually a groom cake! It may not look that good but it’s chocolate cake with oreos and cream filling. Checkout this cake and a bunch of other interesting ones here at Pink Cake Box.
Here’s a couple from this week’s Weddingbee Weekly Round-up
Ever hear of a sponsored wedding? It was news to me! This article entitled “New Trends in Planning a Wedding” has some trends that aren’t that new but the sponsored wedding thing sounded pretty interesting. Wonder if it would work?
Here’s a story about perseverance! Their parents broke up their first engagement thirty years ago but true love couldn’t keep them apart! Pretty cool story! Check out “30 Years after Parents Stopped Wedding, Couple Gets Married.”

I think we got a pretty good top-5 this week, let me know what you think. To start off, there were a couple of good posts about money. The first two I found via DIY Bride…
1. So, how much do you have saved up for your wedding? How much will you have to spend on your wedding when it’s all said and done? If these questions got you stumped you might want to check out this article, “The $28,000 Question: Why are we all hypocrites about our wedding?” This is a great post in the I will Teach You to be Rich blog. It has a lot of good advice on how to budget and ways to cut costs. There’s even a budget simulator you can play with to see how things affect the bottom line.
2. You’ve probably heard the average wedding costs $28,000. In fact you just heard it in paragraph 1 above. That seems to be the standard line out there but how true is it? Do you know a lot of people who had weddings in the $28k range. Well check out this article in the Wall Street Journal, “Weddings are not the Budget Drain Some Surveys Suggest,” to see the real deal. Things look different if you use the median instead of the mean for all you statisticians out there.
3. Okay, reality check time. Who out there thinks they are going to have the perfect wedding? Well don’t think you have to have a perfect wedding to have a great wedding. McKenzie from Something Old, Something New gave us the inside story of some Happy Accidents that happened at her wedding and it wasn’t the end of the world it actually resulted in some great memories. She had a lot of comments that were interesting too. Check them out at the link above!
4. This one is actually a five part series of posts by Melissa at Masterpiece Weddings. She’s a wedding coordinator. Not only that she teaches a class on how to be a wedding planner! This week she let us in on one of the things she teaches in her class, the 5-F’s. Checkout this post to see what they are… ”The 5 F’s” Then check out all this week’s posts on her blog to get tips on each of the F’s!
5. Last but not least, Liene from Blue Orchid Designs is a guest blogger over at createmyevent.com and she wrote a great post “Tips for a Memorable Reception.” I didn’t know Marble Slab or Cold Stone Creamery will come out to your event! That can be very dangerous for me!
Hope you have a great three-day weekend! I’ll see you next week!
Oh by the way, here’s a little Labor Day present for those of you in need of a wedding website. Checkout OurWeddingPlus.com for a 50% discount on a wedding website subscription! It’s time for the Top-5 wedding blog posts of the week! It’s going to be hard to keep up with the great response I got last week but I’ll give it a try!
I’m going to start off with a couple of posts about blogging. It may not seem like it but blogging takes some work. Coming up with new stuff everyday and trying to keep the quality up is tough.
1. There’s a whole lot more to blogging than meets the eye. Check out this article to see what I’m talking about from Blue Orchid Designs Blog…”blogging – it’s a hard knock life”
2. I found this NY Times article via Weddingbee’s Weekly Roundup again. This one talks about the success that can come out of blogging if you keep up with it. Mrs Bee from Weddingbee is mentioned in this article. Checkout…”Blogging Your Way into Business.”
3. Are you out of ideas for your Bachelorette Party? Want to take the stress out of planning one? Well here’s an option from The Hostess with the Mostess Blog. There’s a company called Pink Veil that will plan all the details of your Bachelorette Party including hotels, transportation, dining, and more. Checkout PinkVeil to see what I mean!
4. Are you acquainted with MOG-zilla? How much of an influence is the Mother of the Groom in your wedding? The role of the Mother of the Groom is changing sometimes for the good, sometimes for the bad. Here’s another article I found courtesy of Weddingbee’s Weekly Roundup. This one is in USA Today….checkout “Groom’s mom takes a stand at the alter.”
5. Looking for a unique honeymoon idea that is not only fun but eco-friendly. Well, last and definitely not least…Abby at Style me Pretty wrote about a company that provides some great eco-friendly and definitely unique honeymoons. You definitely will have the most unique honeymoon on the block! Checkout her article “Eco-Friendly Honeymoons.”
Hope you enjoyed this weeks posts! Let me know if there’s a blog out there I’ve been missing!
Have a great weekend!

There’s a blog game going on around the blogosphere, kind of like a chain letter, and I’ve been “tagged” by my blog friend Thryn over at Wedlog. Now its my turn to pass on 8 random facts about myself and then “tag” 8 other bloggers to do the same, so here goes….
1. I grew up in Somerset, Mass.
2. I spent 8 years in the Air Force. It was a great experience that gave me the opportunity to see other parts of the country. Since my husband is still in the Air Force it’s kind of like I’m still in. If it wasn’t for the military I would still be living in Mass.
3. I have a passion for horses! I began riding when I was when I was 5 yrs old. I love riding dressage and currently own a 16.1hh American Hanovarian.
4. After high school I worked as a tour bus guide and took groups of tourists to places like Canada, New York City, and Atlantic City.
5. I have two brothers and one sister. We are a close family and I love to go home to Mass. for holidays.
6. I have a 19 year old son who goes to college in Arkansas. He was here with us in California for the summer and he just left to go back to school today. So this is kind of a sad day for me.
7. My favorite movie is Four Weddings and a Funeral. My favorite part was the eulogy given at Gareth’s funeral, you have to see it to know what I mean.
8. I Love Crabs! I could eat dungeonous crabs until I explode!
So now it’s my turn to tag 8 other bloggers…
