That is if you’re in Southern California. I wrote about the Queen Mary as a destination wedding location after my family and I had dinner there last Thanksgiving. The Queen Mary, built during the 1930’s, was the premier and most luxurious ocean liner of its time. Back in the day when crossing the Atlantic was done by the wealthy in first class elegance. The Queen Mary is now permanently docked in Long Beach, Ca and is preserved in its original beauty as a hotel and also houses several restaurants, ballrooms, and a wedding chapel. Well now I can tell you what it was like to actually stay there overnight and I took more pictures so you can get a better idea what a great wedding location this is.
First off, the staff treated us great! We had a few drinks in the beautiful art deco Observation Bar which was the original First Class Lounge on the ship. There you have a panoramic view of the city of Long Beach. We also had a great dinner in the beautiful Chelsea Restaurant. No that’s not us in the picture, I grabbed that picture from the Queen Mary website. We stayed in a King Suite on the ship, very roomy.
In the morning, we had coffee and pastries on the Sun Deck. Here are some pictures taken from where we were sitting.
For wedding location choices there’s the Sun Deck Gazebo on the stern of the ship.
Or, the indoor wedding chapel. There’s other locations too, just check with them if you are interested.
After the ceremony you can have your reception in one of the many grand ballrooms available. Then, your guests can stay right on the ship in one of the beautiful rooms. It truly was great imagining what it was must have been like on the ship crossing the Atlantic in the mid-1900’s and having the opportunity to relive a small part of history!
Your guests will love the experience and it will definitely stand out from the average wedding. For more info checkout the Queen Mary website.

Looking for a classy way to personalize your wedding? Here’s an option…custom wine labels for the wine served at your reception. There’s a couple of ways I recommend you do this. Printing them out on your home computer is not one of them. Especially if you have an ink jet printer!
First option is to get custom wine labels professionally printed for you! Stoney Creek Wine Press has a great selection of wine labels for most occasions or you can submit your own design. Their wine labels are waterproof and scratch resistant. But of course you have the problem of removing the old labels and having to apply the labels yourself.
Second option is to buy the bottles with the label already applied. We have partnered up with a company called Custom Wine Source to provide this option! They offer a variety of wine options, you pick the basic wine label design to match your occasion, then you customize it, and that’s it! You can also submit your own design if you want. This is by far the easiest option and will probably result in the most professional looking.
Check them out to see what will work best for you!

Ladies you’ve all heard the stereotype about men avoiding marriage like the plague. Well know you can know what’s behind this great fear of marriage…
A recent poll of 1533 heterosexual men was conducted as research for a book aiming to give women an understanding of why many smart, successful men opt to stay single. Here’s what they found out…
- Men are 10 times more afraid of marrying the wrong person than never getting married at all!
- The poll showed that while in 1980 only 6% of men in their early 40’s were never married now that number is 17%
- The poll found that there are three types of bachelors:
8% who never want to marry
62% who want to marry but half of them are are holding out for perfection
30% are on the fence about marriage
- As for having kids the bachelors said:
4 of 10 did not want to be a father
3 of 10 want to be a father
the rest were undecided
Finally, 72% said they were’nt afraid of marriage but half of them said that the situation that scared them most was marrying the wrong person
In my opinion, while this may result in a lot of men not popping the question for a long time if ever, this may help improve the divorce statistics in the future. As frustrating as it may seem I’d rather be married to a man that is sure before he commits than finding out he wasn’t sure later!
