Welcome to another edition of the Top 5 Wedding Blog Posts of the Week! Sorry I didn’t have time to put one together last week. And, I’m sorry in advance for not doing them for the next two weeks. I’ll be on vacation and will try to post on occasion.
So here we go…
1. If you’ve been following my blog you know that I’m a big believer in working on your relationship is much more important than planning the details of your ceremony and reception. So, you now know why I picked Grill’em Before your Wed’em. Check it out at Manolo Brides!
2. Into DIY well you will certainly get your fill if you checkout the talented entries over at Style me Pretty! Abby is running a DIY contest and there’s a lot of great ideas to be had! Checkout Style Me Pretty.
3. I love eventethos! They don’t blog very often, but when they do they usually make my Top 5. This is a fairly simple topic but one that you may be wondering about if you are planning a holiday party. Do I use paper or cloth napkins? For your answer, checkout “Q&A – Paper vs. Cloth Napkins?”
4. Once again Blue Orchid made the list for the first time, I put the same blog series on the list twice! Liene’s Thirty Days to Plan a Wedding list is still going and there’s lots of good info still coming. Just in case you missed the last time I told you about this, checkout Blue Orchid Designs!
5. And finally, something a little different. Weddingbee has been doing something new called Weddingbee TV! You get to chat with the bees while they are live on webcam. I chatted with Mrs. Bee about a month ago when she was testing it out. The whole concept is strangely entertaining. So checkout Weddingbee TV! You can even watch archive broadcasts!
Well, that’s it for this week. I’ll be checking in a several times over the next two weeks. But, in the mean time have a great Christmas and New Years!

Don’t worry you are not alone. You may have heard that the #1 fear of most people is public speaking while fear of death is #5!
Here are five tips to help you out with your wedding speech:
1. Don’t drink too much! You may think this will help calm the nerves. Which it may, but maybe a little too much. Most likely this will result in a more embarrassing situation for you and the bride and groom. Then you will wake up in the morning feeling like an idiot!
2. Don’t read your wedding speech word for word. This looks stiff and impersonal. See the next tip for more!
3. Don’t try to memorize your wedding speech word for word. This will put a lot of pressure on you. If you mess up one word it can throw the rest of your speech off. Try jotting down an outline and being a little spontaneous. It will come off much better with the audience.
4. Try to mingle with the crowd a little. Meet people you don’t know yet. This may make you feel a little more comfortable with your audience.
5. Be confident that what you are going to say sounds good! Practice. Try your wedding speech out on a loved one.
Not feeling too inspired? There are free websites that can get you started with things to say like ChargeYourGlasses.com. They give you some unique phrases to include throughout your speech.
Good luck!

December 17th, 2007 — Destination Wedding, Unique Ideas
I had the unique experience this last Thanksgiving to have dinner on the Queen Mary. This was really something different and pretty interesting. The Queen Mary was built during the 1930’s as one of the most luxurious cruise ships of the time. It kind of reminded me of the Titantic but is actually bigger than the Titantic. The Queen Mary was used for troop transport during World War II and served as a cruise ship through the 1960s. Currently the Queen Mary is permanently docked in Long Beach, Ca.
So why should you care? As a wedding blogger, I’m always on the job! First thing I noticed on the Queen Mary was the wedding chapel. I also noticed the great food and the beautiful, history filled art deco salons available for receptions. Not to mention the beautiful views from pretty much every where including the Sun Deck, which is also available for wedding ceremonies. Plus, the 365 staterooms on the Queen Mary where you and all your guests can stay.

So, if you are looking for a unique and memorable wedding location checkout the Queen Mary! It can be a very nostalgic destination wedding location!

December 9th, 2007 — Wedding Dresses

Alfred Angelo unveiled their 2008 line of bridesmaid dresses a couple of weeks ago. They are presenting them as the bridesmaid dresses that you will wear again and again! The line is called the Knit Collection and I must say they look pretty nice! They definitely can be worn again and again which is always a nice selling point when you ask your bridesmaids to fork out a large sum of money for their bridesmaid dresses. The other thing I like is that you can mix and match all within the same color scheme. I’m a big fan of allowing bridesmaids to pick their own dress to fit their taste and body style. As long as it is within your overall style and color scheme, just like in the picture above. The Knit Collection won’t be available in stores until February 2008 but you can get a preview at their website, checkout Alfred Angelo!

Hi everyone! Welcome to this week’s edition of the Top-5 Wedding Blog Posts of the Week! There were a lot of great posts this week. Hope you like them. And, as always let me know what you think and if you came across any other blogs that need recognition.
1 . First off, this one is actually an amazing series of posts over at Blue Orchid. As a blogger, I know how difficult it is to come up with consistent flow of ideas. Liene never fails to produce great material. Her “Over a Cup of Coffee” series was great and now she has another great series call “30 Days to Plan a Wedding.” Over the month of December she is cover “all the major points that go into planning a wedding.” Check it out over at Blue Orchid Designs!
2. Melissa over at Masterpiece Weddings had a some great guest bloggers recently. She topped it off this week with Jenn, the famous Hostess With The Mostess! Jenn had a great post covering everything you need to know about putting on Winter Themed Bridal Party. This post is packed with great ideas! Check out Winter Themed Bridal Party Ideas!
3. Want to be different? Tired of those old traditions? Well AisleDash has some ideas for you. Check out the post “Be a bit different - add personal touches to your wedding ceremony” Let us know what your think! Are you doing anything non-standard?
4. Speaking of non-standard, there are many options other than the standard head table with the couple and the wedding party. There’s the sweetheart table and many other seating options. Welcome back the Wedding Fairy to the Don’t Be that Bride blog after taking a few months off. Checkout Seating Slip Ups Redux: Thoughts from the Wedding Fairy to see a great discussion on seating options!
5. Oh that controversial decision, should we allow kids at our wedding? If you’re on the fence check out the post at wedlog entitled “cute kids.” If the kids that would come to your wedding are as cute as these kids are then I say go for it!
Hope you have a great weekend!
