Eco-Friendly Wedding Favors

Eco-Friendly_Wedding_Favor

Here’s a pretty cool green wedding favor idea.  As your marriage grows over the years so will these trees in the yards of your friends and family.  I think it would by pretty neat to be able to show your kids these trees when you go to see family.  Not to mention you are doing something good for the environment too!

I found these on Plantamemory.com.  You by them by the bunch (20 seedlings).  I also like the idea of putting them in a champagne glass.  Wouldn’t they look nice for a winter themed wedding?

Another Unique Southern California Wedding Venue

Wedding VenueMany of you know I’m a horse lover so when I found out about this place I had to let you know about it!

For you horse lovers in Southern California, here’s a great wedding venue for you.  It’s called Calamigos Equestrian.  Calamigos Equestrian is located in Burbank, California and sits on 75 acres of landscaped fields and large sycamore trees.  But best of all there’s a bunch of horses!

My ideal wedding location would be outdoors in a beautiful pasture with full grown oak trees, surrounded by white wooden fences and of course horses in the background.

Having an outdoor wedding in the stadium jumping field would be pretty cool too.

Calamigos Equestrian offers full wedding packages including a wedding coordinator and of course a horse drawn carriage.

The Ultimate Wedding Venue

Imaging having your wedding in downtown Manhattan, the streets are blocked off, and the backdrop is the beautiful brown stones.  Your band is on a stage in the middle of the street.  Then to top it off you have fireworks going off over the skyline!

This isn’t as impossible as it may seem.  These pictures were actually taken taken at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.  That’s right, they open the New York street set for special events!   But not only that they also make available sound stages, the famous Historic Bronson Gate Entry and more.  Checkout Paramount Studios Special Events for more pictures and information!

Wedding Favor Idea

Here’s a great idea for wedding favors or to have on the desert bar.  Many of you know I’m a chocolate fanatic!  So, as you guess I couldn’t just walk by this booth, especially with the free samples!  But I was also impressed with the unique packaging and the great presentation of these chocolates!  Here’s some pictures I took at the Patchi Le Chocolat.  Check out their website for more options!

Wedding Music: Band or DJ or

Wedding Music Wayne Forest Entertainment

Orchestra or Choir or full blown entertainment experience?

Usually the question you ask yourself when planning your wedding is should I have a DJ or a band?  Imagine being able to go to one place and get the option to have all the entertainment you could imagine, custom designed to fit your wedding?  If you want a 50 person choir to sing at your church or a 35 piece orchestra to play at your reception, plus a solo musician to play during the cocktail hour, plus professional dancers to entertain the crowd.   No problem, except of course if you are on a limited budget.  A company called Wayne Fosert Entertainment can handle the job.  Michelle Pfeiffer used them for her wedding and Billy Blanks also used them.

While walking through the exhibitor booth area at “An Exquisite Event” bridal show this past weekend, I came across the Wayne Foster Entertainment booth and my first thought was they were simply a band or a DJ until I started asking questions.   April Dee Dee Daley, Senior Entertainment Coordinator, showed me some videos of their work and I was amazed at the size and quality of the productions they put on.  She said the night before they had five shows going across the LA area one of which was a 35 piece orchestra.

So if you were wondering how the big corporations and the rich and famous get their entertainment for their events, this is how.  But April also said they can just do a band or a DJ, they will work with you to fill your entertainment needs.

See you tomorrow!

Wedding Photography: In the Boudior

Okay ladies, Our Wedding Plus is going to be rated PG-13 today.   Do you want to give your new husband a gift that he will never forget?  Maybe even shock his socks off?!?  Well here’s something different that some brides are doing.  It’s a form of wedding photography called Boudoir photography.  You can look at it as kind of a new slant on the old bridal portrait.

Boudoir_Wedding_Photography_1

Boudoir pictures are taken wearing little or nothing at all but they are not  taken in a way that would make them X-rated!  They are typically done in a suggestive / sexy way.  Just be careful you might not impress the mother of the groom if she gets her hands on them!

Boudior_Wedding_Photography_2

Why do this? Well maybe you want to document all the hard work you put into your body getting ready for the wedding or you just want to give your groom a unique wedding gift.

Boudior_Wedding_Photography_3

Some variants on bridal boudoir photos are couples boudoir photos or even having the bride with all her bridesmaids together!  Not sure what you would do with those photos, but I don’t think I’d want to give them to my new husband!

These photos were taken by Danielle Biel, a very talented photographer and owner of Skye Blue Photography from Pasadena, Ca.  Daniel also has a great blog, check it out to see more of her work.

Meet My New Friend…Preston

Well, this weekend I went to “An Exquisite Event” in Hollywood and had the pleasure of making a new friend, his name is Preston Bailey. He seems to have a knack for decorating and has some good ideas when it comes to party planning. We hung out for a while, talked about blogging, he said he just started blogging a couple of weeks ago. I told him to hang in there, one day he might make it to the blogging major leagues like Our Wedding Plus!

Okay, you got me…

I’m talking about the same Preston Bailey who put together Donald Trump’s wedding, Oprah’s premiere party for O magazine, and parties for almost every other big celebrity you can think of.

He’s also the author of…

Inspirations

Preston Bailey’s Design for Entertaining: Inspiration for Creating the Party of Your Dreams

Preston Bailey’s Fantasy Weddings

Here’s some information Preston passed on during his presentation at “An Exquisite Event.”

Where does he get his inspiration?

From his clients. He said 95% of his clients are women and he’s learned to listen to women and give them what they want.

He said he has two kinds of clients:

1. The kind that want their party to be bigger and better than their girlfriend’s
2. The kind that just want to celebrate and have a good time

His favorites are the ones that fall into category 2.

As far as specific advice for brides, he said…

Be careful with your budget. Think of what is most important to you and realize you can’t have it all. Cut out things that are less important and focus on the more important.

Figure out what your vision is for your event…romantic, traditional, color scheme and don’t do what everyone else is doing.

He stressed to make a dramatic statement that people will not forget. He typically would include at least one dramatic thing in the event design that people would amaze people.

He also stressed that you should do something exciting up the aisle. Check out his blog to see what he did for the aisle at a wedding on the French Riviera.

Some other tips I picked up were…

Only choose 1 or 2 different kinds of flowers. Many people go overboard with different kinds of flowers.

If you are using chair covers don’t use all the same style, use a couple of styles to make it interesting.

And when checking out your venue, don’t forget to check out the bathroom!

His favorite colors?

He likes to try different things but he does like yellows and golds

His favorite themes?

He likes a mix of traditional and contemporary. Doesn’t like it too contemporary.

And, like I’ve said, don’t expect your wedding to go off without a hitch! Preston told a couple of stories about some big things that went wrong at his events. So don’t feel bad just enjoy your day!

Now I did get to talk to Preston Bailey a little bit and I must say he is one of the most approachable people that I’ve met. I was amazed at how friendly and modest he was. He seems to be a truly nice guy.

And, Preston if you’re out there, if you ever need help with that blog of yours let me know!
