September 30th, 2007 — Groom Ideas
Many times the stress of wedding planning is the first big challenge for your relationship!
How is your groom when it comes to wedding planning?
- Runs the other way when you bring up the topic?
- Has absolutely no opinion when asked about his preferences?
- Feels that it’s your day so you should make all the decisions?
Or is your groom?
- Totally helpful to the point where you wish he wasn’t so interested?
It seems that the general consensus among guys is that this is the woman’s time and that they should just stand back and let her run the show. Sounds generous doesn’t it?!? Check out this video of the grooms from the Today Show Throws a Martha Stewart Wedding to see what they think their role is. (Click here for video)
So how do you help your groom navigate his way through the wedding planning process?
Doug Gordon, who you saw in the video talking to Al Roker, wrote a book called The Engaged Groom: You’re Getting Married. Read this Book.
. Doug’s advice is to have your groom work on what interests them and is inline with their talents such as working on the menu, the invitations, or building the wedding website.
Evidently this book has a lot of great advice for both the bride and groom according to the customer reviews on Amazon.
Anyway, if you are looking for a gift to give your groom and you also want to get him to help with the planning, check-out “The Engaged Groom.” All you have to do is click on the picture of the book above!

It is time once again for the Top-5 Wedding Blog Posts of the Week! I explored the blogosphere to find things of interest so you don’t have to. Now get a cup of coffee, sit-back, relax and enjoy…Since I started off the week with some lighting inspiration, my first two picks this week are some lighting inspiration from a couple of my favorite blogs…
1. Bridal Bar Blog had a great post about “What to do in the rain?” Checkout the great photos of the wedding venues in this post!
2. SocialDesign has a whole category on lighting. They typically have a lighting post every week. Checkout this link to the SocialDesign Lighting Posts!
3. This next one isn’t really a blog. I’m actually not sure what it is. I just stumbled upon it. But it did look interesting. Checkout these pictures of a couple’s wedding who really went all out to have a medieval themed wedding!
4. This one I got from Weddingbee’s Weekly Round-up. Remember the real work comes after you get married! It’s never too early to start preparing to have a good marriage. Read “8 Things No One Tells You About Marriage.”
5. Are you a Bridezilla? Not sure? Well here is a scientific test (not really) that will give indisputable proof of your status. At least you might find it entertaining. Checkout The Bridezilla Test!
Let me know if you found some other great posts you’d like to share!
See you next week!

My post about setting the mood with light inspired me to find some inspiring candlelight pictures.
Doesn’t candlelight bring out the feel of romance and warmth? Here’s some photos I found on Artfool.com (thanks to SocialDesign!).
How are you using candles in your wedding?

See you tomorrow!

Lighting can have a major effect on the mood of your event. It can liven it up or it can calm it down all due to the brightness and color.
Here’s some pictures I found on Event Solutions.
This bright and airy event uses hues of amber and golden lighting with kind of a backdrop of a warmer reddish-orange.

Here’s a dramatic example of how the color of light can change the mood. The next two pictures of the same event with LED lighting using different colors
Ahh…how cool and soothing…

Ooh…how vibrant…

Ahh…how romantic and cozy…(this one I found here)

Are you doing anything with lighting to set the mood?

Who said bridesmaid dresses all have to be the same? People come in all sizes and have different tastes. So, why not let your bridesmaids choose a dress that fits them but also fits your wedding theme? Checkout these beautiful dresses again from Jenny Yoo!

Where are you getting your bridesmaid dresses? What do you think of letting your bridesmaids choose their style?

September 22nd, 2007 — Green Wedding, Engagement Rings, Diamonds
I read an article on weddingbee about Conflict Free Diamonds which reminded me a post I wrote a while back, Secrets The Jewelry Industry Doesn’t Want You to Know. I think this is a very important topic that not many people think about. If you are looking for a easy way to add some eco-friendly aspects to your wedding without out taking away from the elegance of your event checkout these sources for engagement and wedding rings!

It’s great to finally be able to do a Top-5 on our new blog! I scoured all the blogs that I track for what I thought were the best posts this week. If you know of a blog that I missed let me know!
1. Here’s a cool idea I found on Faye and Greer. Jump Photos make a great keepsake for you and your guests and they look just plain fun! Checkout: Carla + Pete: Jump Photos
2. I’m so happy for Abby at Style Me Pretty! Her blog got mentioned on The Martha Stewart Show! I’m just honored to have a link on her blog! Checkout: Martha Stewart Weddings and checkout this link for the actual segment (thanks Heather at Outstanding Occasions for the segment link)
3. Looking to do something different for your Bridal Shower? Do you hate the standard bridal shower? The DIY Bride does too, checkout her post “I Hate (Most) Bridal Showers” to get some new ideas!
4. Having some problems with those wedding vendors? Not returning your calls? Not delivering what they promise? Well checkout Bridezilla, she passed on some good advice from one of the best complainers around! Checkout: How to Complain Successfully
5. And finally, it may be okay to complain but my old friend Preston Bailey say’s don’t micromanage! Checkout this video from Brideorama!
